  Procedures for Finding Off-Base Housing
     Upon your arrival at Yokosuka Naval Base, you may want to find your off-base housing,
but before you can rent you must finish the following steps:


   
    STEP 1     Attend a mandatory housing briefing held in the Yokosuka Housing Welcome Center.
                                   
      
 STEP 2     Visit Interpreter's Office and turn in Application Form DD-1746, PCS orders, Family Entry Letter, etc.

     
  STEP 3     Make appointments to view houses/apartments with local agency.

     
  STEP 4     Find house/apartment.

       
STEP 5     Turn in "Off Base Rental Selection Information" form to Housing Office on base to schedule SPW.

     
  STEP 6     Go to SPW(Start Paperwork) Appointment and visit household goods, loaner furniture.

     
  STEP 7     Visit household goods, loaner furniture and go to Disbursing.

       
STEP 8     Go to Interpreter's Office to sign contract.

     
  STEP 9     Make final appointment with counselor to finalize contract and to get "approved" stamp on contract.

     
  STEP 10   Go back to disbursing and turn in "approved" contract.

     
  STEP 11   Move in. 

    
   Above process will normally take 2 to 3 weeks.
  CHECK OFF SHEET FOR OFF-BASE HOUSING
All personnel are required to summit a comleted DD1746 Application for Assignment to Housing.
Please contact inbound Personal Property at 243-7587 or 243-5426 to verify whether your Household goods shipment has arrived prior to scheduling your SPW appointment.


Accompanied Personnel (all ranks)
PCS order (Complete copy)
Family Entry Approval (FEA) or Approved Command Sponsorship Letter (not the endorsement)
Approved Chit for Advanced OHA w/amount authorized (If requested)
For RPP: Command Approval Letter signed by CO or Direction to Reside RPP home for 1year or more

Unaccompanied Personnel & Geographical Bachelor (E-6 and above)
PCS Orders(Complete copy)
Approved Chit for Advance OHA w/amount authorized(If requested)
For RPP: Command Approval Letter signed by CO or Direction to Reside RPP home for 1year or more

Unaccompanied Personnel (E-4 on sea duty w/more than 4yrs of service & E-4 on shore duty and E-5)
PCS Orders (Complete copy)
NAVPERS 1336/3 Special Request/Authorization (Command Approval Chit to Reside Off bass & receive OHA/MIHA entitlement)
For RPP: Command Approval Letter signed by CO or Direction to Reside RPP home for 1year or more
& receive OHA entitlement which covers full rent fee
Approved Chit for Advanced OHA w/amount authorized(If requested)

Unaccompanied Personnel (E-3 and below & E-4 on sea duty less than 4yrs of service) & Geographical
Bachelors (E-5 and below)

PCS Orders (Complete copy)
NAVPERS 1336/3 Special Request/Authorization (Command Approval Chit to Reside Off bass & receive OHA/MIHA entitlement)
For RPP: Command Approval Letter signed by CO or Direction to Reside RPP home for 1year or more
& receive OHA entitlement which covers full rent fee
Certificate of Non Availability Memo (CNA)
(Contact Billeting Office 243-5569 on how to obtain this memo)
Approved Chit for Advanced OHA w/amount authorized(If requested)

Civilian Personnel
DD1614 Request/Authorization for DOD Civilian Permanent Duty or Temporary Change of Station (TCS)
Travel or SF-50 Notification of Personnel Action
DD1616 Department of Defense Transportation Agreement Transfer of Professional School
Personnel Outside of CONUS (DODDS Pesonnel)
DD1617 Department of Defense Transportation Agreement Transfer of Civilian Employees
Outside of CONUS (DOD Pesonnel)
For RPP: Command Approval Letter to reside RPP home for 1year or more & receive LQA entitlement which covers full rent fee

Retired Personnel
DD214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty or Retired Military ID Card

Contractors
Letter of Employment 
    Important Notice:

   Unaccompanied personnel must secure Command Approval Chit first, because house agents cannot hold a housing if he/she have not gotten chit.

   The Interpreters Office cannot make any appointment for customers to start Paperwork (SPW) on a rental unit until he/she turns in all the documents listed in customer's category.
